Haptoglobin phenotypes in a group of mental retardates.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Sera from selected cases of mental retardates were studied for haptoglobin phenotypes (Hp) on polyacrylamide disc gel electro phoresis, No significant alteration in the gene frequencies was observed from the normal control populations in Eastern India. However, a few cases had abnormal patterns which could not be attributed to external factors. An individual with idiopathic mental retardation showed the presence of an Hp 0 allele, which may have arisen de novo.

Association of Haptoglobin Phenotypes with Serum Levels of IgE and IgA in Allergic Rhinitis Patients
Background: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an allergic disorder of the nasal tissue that underlies diseases such as sinusitis, otits and asthma. Different predisposing factors including immunological and non-immunological factors contribute to the disease pathogenesis. Objective: To investigate association of haptoglobin (Hp) phenotypes (Hp1-1, 2-1 and 2-2) with serum immunoglobulins A and E levels ...
متن کاملDetermination of Haptoglobin Genotype in an Iranian Population with Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy
Background: Haptoglobin (Hp) is a plasma α2-sialoglycoprotein that contains alpha and beta chains. It displays in three common phenotypes, Hp1-1, Hp2-1, and Hp2-2. Proteins expressed by polymorphic genes have grossly different molecular sizes resulting in different diffusion rates in the brain. Haptoglobin expressed by the Hp2-2 genotype has lower hemoglobin-binding capacity than Hp1-1 or...

متن کاملEffectiveness of adult and peer reinforcement on the performance of institutionalized and noninstitutionalized retardates.
20 institutionalized and 20 noninstitutionalized familial retardates of comparable MA and CA were socially reinforced by either a peer or an adult on a simple 2-part satiation task. Adult reinforcement was found to be more effective than peer reinforcement for the institutionalized retardates; the reverse pattern was found for noninstitutionalized retardates, where the peer was a more effective...
متن کاملDiagnostic Role of Serum Haptoglobin level in Early Onset Neonatal Sepsis
Background: Introduction: Searching for an ideal marker for diagnosing neonatal infection is still an important concern in every country. There are many biomarkers reported for neonatal sepsis. Haptoglobin is an acute phase reactants which rise in response to infection and injuries. In this report we discussed the efficacy of serum haptoglobin level in different cut off levels in early onset ne...
